Peabody Wealth Advisors Employee Spotlight- Brian Vinagro
This month we chatted with Financial Planner, Brian Vinagro CFP® who has been working at Peabody Wealth Advisors since January 2016. Let's find out a bit more about Brian!
What is your position at PWA?
I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and an LPL Financial Planner with Peabody Wealth Advisors
What led you to this career?
I was always interested in learning about investing and I accepted a job fresh out of college at a local Merrill Lynch branch in Peabody. I was very fortunate to be able to link up with the top team in the office and learn the ropes. Mike Murray and I first met back in 2001 while we managed local branches for a national firm. We went our separate ways for several years but always maintained contact and we ended up reconnecting in late 2015 and I transitioned my practice over to PWA.
What do you love most about your job?
I really love being able to help people plan for the future and help them identify and work towards achieving their goals. Every day is different, and it is very rewarding to see a plan come together after a lot of hard work. The flexibility of working as a financial advisor allows us to give back to the community in a number of ways. I enjoy volunteering as a board member of the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce and Citizens Inn while also serving on Peabody’s Community Development Authority. My true passion is being able to spend time with my family and much of that time is spent traveling around to my daughters’ sporting events and coaching their lacrosse teams. I currently serve as the President of Peabody Youth Girls Lacrosse, and I am a founding member and on the Board of Directors of the Northfields United Soccer Club which has really exploded.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I really enjoy spending time with my family and friends outside enjoying the best that New England has to offer. It could be a 25-year annual fishing trip 6 hours up in the middle of Maine with my brother and lifelong friends, a quiet family day at the beach, a friendly but competitive day on the golf course with friends, or a hectic weekend traveling to lacrosse, soccer and basketball games watching my daughters compete with their friends. I would not trade it for the world!
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Be a good listener and there is no such thing as a dumb question. In our industry and life in general it always pays to talk less and listen more. I always question everything and encourage my clients to ask questions if there is something they do not understand.
What is something about you that people may be surprised about?
I enjoy reading and learning. I love reading about history and in particular WWII history. My grandfather was a nose gunner on a B-24 in Europe during WWII. His crew was shot down over Germany and he served the remainder of the war as a POW. He understandably did not talk about his experience, so I took an interest to learn about what it was like for them trying to survive during the death marches and in the various prisoner camps.
